The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is developing the first ChatGPT tool on the world for the community Agriculture.
The announcement was made by Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, head of the Presidential Office for International Affairs, last weekend within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The ChatGPT tool, called “CHAG,” is built on data compiled from 50 years of research in the agricultural sector and will become an easily accessible tool for farmers, especially those working in difficult climatic conditions.
Thanks to the UAE's advancement in artificial intelligence (AI), the tool will help farmers make informed decisions about when to harvest and sow, as well as how to adapt to weather fluctuations.
“Instead of just providing general forecasts, we will transform all this data into actionable information using the power of AI,” said Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization.
Also within the framework of COP29, Ms. Almheiri participated in an important discussion session entitled “Collaborating to create AI-based public goods for over 1 billion smallholder farmers”.
Here, experts discussed equipping farmers with the tools they need to cope with changing weather conditions and optimize agricultural production, one of the key factors in accelerating the energy transition and reducing carbon emissions.
At COP29, the UAE also introduced initiatives related to energy transition and decarbonization./.
