Google launches tool to turn 'doodles' into impressive paintings

Doodle Guide will provide live commentary on users' work as they begin sketching, in both audio and visual form.

Technology giant Google continues to step up artificial intelligence (AI) experiments related to the fields of art and culture.

Google recently announced an experimental AI tool called Doodle Guide in a blog post. The tool is designed to help users improve their doodling skills.

Doodle Guide will provide live commentary on users' work as they begin sketching. Google says the commentary will be presented in both audio and visual formats.

Once the user finishes the drawing, the AI will generate an image based on what it thought the user was trying to doodle. Doodle Guide will also give suggestions so the user can draw better next time.

In addition to Doodle Guide, Google also announced three other experiments: Mice in a Museum, Talking Tours, and Lip Sync.

With Mice in a Museum, users will see two mice “gossiping” about art-related topics.

Talking Tours, meanwhile, is a virtual museum guide. With Lip Sync, users will watch two virtual characters with icons of two lips discuss current issues in the fields of art and culture.

In addition to helping users improve their drawing skills, Doodle Guide also offers a fun creative experience. The tool is part of Google's efforts to apply AI to the fields of art and culture.
