Digital transformation to become stronger will create new momentum for Vietnam's development

Strong digital transformation and the application of modern science and technology will create new and important driving forces for Vietnam's development. Digital transformation and green transformation will be the two most important transformations of the first half of the 2st century. These two transformations will fundamentally change our lives. Digital transformation and green transformation are twins, they go together and support each other. These two transformations will also ensure a country's rapid and sustainable development. Vietnam has identified digital transformation and green transformation as strategic choices.

Vietnam Social Security (VSS) is one of four ministries and sectors that have undergone digital transformation with 1% of public services online. The sector has provided 4/100 (25%) administrative procedures online. Public services are provided on multiple platforms: Vietnam Social Security Public Service Portal, National Public Service Portal, VssID application, IVAN service providers.

The number of hours to perform administrative procedures has decreased by 86%. People can transact with the Social Insurance agency 24/7 in the fastest way. E-commerce revenue increased from 13,7 billion USD in 2021 to 20,5 billion USD in 2023. A series of OCOP products (1 product per commune) have been sold through domestic and cross-border e-commerce platforms, creating livelihoods and high incomes for farmers. Cashless payments have been widely deployed. The proportion of adults with payment accounts has reached 87%, exceeding the 2025 target of 80%.

Notably, digital products of Vietnamese enterprises continue to develop and export worldwide. world. According to the General Department of Customs, digital product exports increased from 113,5 billion USD in 2021 to 117,3 billion USD last year. In the first 6 months of this year, they reached 64,9 billion USD, an increase of 23% over the same period. Many of the world's leading technology corporations have made large investments in Vietnam, committed to new investments and investment expansion, especially in new fields such as: electronics, semiconductor chips, research and development, artificial intelligence (AI) ...

Dr. Vo Tri Thanh, an economic expert, said: The most important thing about the digital economy is to let the real economy develop. It is not by chance that we consider digital transformation and digital economic development as a golden opportunity for Vietnam, a latecomer that can catch up and keep up with the times and other countries.

Digital transformation is not simply the application of digital technology to socio-economic activities, but also the process of establishing a new, advanced and modern production method, with a harmonious combination of people and new technology, including artificial intelligence (AI). To serve this goal, Vietnam has been proactive at many levels.
